Is Chronic Cough A Common Side Effect Of Endoscopy?

Is a chronic cough a common side effect of having had an Endoscopy? And if so, How long can such a cough be expected to last (Mine has been persisting for over two weeks now since the Endoscopy) before one should be concerned that it is a problem in and of itself.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Coughing is seen in some people after getting upper gastrointestinal endoscopy done. Since it is persisting fro more than two weeks, it needs to be clarified if its due to an ongoing infection which happened earlier. It is suggested you get clinically examined. You have not mentioned if you are having symptoms of fever. You may consult your doctor to rule out a throat infection.
