Isotretinoin is used mainly for severe acne Or even moderate acne that is severely impacting on the quality of life of the patient Or acne resistant to traditional antiacne medications. It is effective on account of its sebostatic actions (decreases sebum production), antiinflammatory and antibacterial actions. However, it should always be taken under the supervision of a doctor because the recommendation is to monitor for blood tests (of liver and serum lipid levels) while on therapy with isotretinoin.
