Is Burnt Mark On The Wrist Of A Person A Cause For Concern?
Last night i slipped and fell on some ice hyper extending my wrist and thumb. Its not broken just a little swollen and tender. I iced the area as soon as I got home but the area is starting to look like a burn and not a bruise...should I be concerned?
Friction between the ice and your hand can cause abrasion and heat which end up as a burn. (Friction burn) This should heal on its own. There is no cause for concern. The dark skin will start to peel once new skin has started to form underneath. Avoid picking on it and you may apply some moisturizer on it if it starts to itch
When it starts to peel, cut it with a clean pair of scissors (don't pull it off). Underlying skin may not regenerate evenly and pulling it off before it has healed may cause scarring. The area if your injury (over the joint surface) will take longer to heal due to constant movements.
Keep the area clean. If you notice any signs of infection (redness, pus under the skin, warmth over the area) see your doctor to treat it.
Hope this helps. Wish you good health. Please get back to us if you need further clarification.
