Is Brown Vaginal Discharge A Week After Menstruation A Cause For Concern?

I m 21 yr old female and I had my period about a week ago. But I m still getting brown diacharge like i usually get at the beginning of my period almost a week after the heavy bleeding stopped. I plan on making an appointment with my primary OBGYN but I need some peace of mind.

Thank you for your query

Brown discharge is usually old blood. If it doesn't come out during menstruation, it may come out by gravity or by some strenuous exercise some time later. If it a small quantity, there is nothing g to be concerned about.
However if it occurs in larger quantities, or is associated with itching, abdominal pain, fever, see your OBGYN to rule out infection.

Endometriosis (growth of endometrium - the normal lining of the uterus, elsewhere other in the uterus.) can lead to brown discharge and causes case pain.
If your cycles are regular, and you don't have dysmenorrhea (severe pain during periods), this is probably just some old blood being evacuated

Hope this helps. Please get back to us if you have further questions.
Wish you good health
