Is Breathlessness An Indication Of Heart Disease?

My mother is 60 yrs old and yesterday and from last 2 days she was breathless. After Echo, ECG and chestX-Ray we came to know that her heart was enlarge but its just a little bit and doctor said that it was not a serious matter, She do not have any problem of BP and sugar etc till now. Could you please suggest what precaution we will take and is there any scope that heart will not enlarge more. Thanks

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Breathlessness could be a sign of heart disease or lung disease like an obstructive pneumopathy.Such lung diseases may manifest with an increased geart size. The intensity of the breathlessness and other associated symptoms/signs will be what will matter. With an enlarged heart, the cause may be explained. However, if any chronic cough, a spirometry will be good. She will need just fitting exercises ok for her age, reduce salt intake, regular BP control and good diet. You may also see a Cardiologist occasionally to evaluate her heart.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
