Is Blood Pressure With 190 Over 100 A Concern?

Hi my father inlaw blood pressure was 190 over 100. since then he is been treated by a doctor and he is on 2 types of medication. Today he went to check it and it was 180 over 85. He is 65 years old weighing 130kg. Is this blood pressure a concern? and out of the 180 or the 85 which is more critical? what should his be?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Systolic value 180 mm is more concerning. It is decreasing and it shouldn't be allowed to fall drastically.
It is important to see other concomitant problems like lipid profile, blood sugar.Renal Doppler can be done if needed.
He should try to decrease his weight and take limited salt in diet.
He should increase his physical activity and should go for brisk walk.
He should avoid fried and junk food.
Give plenty of fibres in diet.

Get well soon.
Take Care
