Is Biopsy Of Thyroid Necessary To Test The Calcification Of Cervical Lymph Node?

I am a 24 year old women and have had what it seemed like a swollen cervical lymph node for a while now but when I push on it, it makes a crunching noise. I went to the doctor and had an ultrasound done and they said that it is calcified and are sending me to do a fine needle biopsy on my thyroid. I just wondering why are they doing the biopsy on my thyroid when it is my lymph node that is calcified

hello madam..
lymph nodes drain from various areas of the neck..one such important organ is thyroid gland..
calcification in nodes raises suspicion of problems with thyroid or salivary glands..they must have already done a thyroid USG scan and now planing to do FNAC (biopsy)..
biopsy is direct way of visualizing tissue directly under microscope..
it is useful test in your case, go for it..
take care..
