Is Beta Blockers Better Than Cardizem For Treating Hypertension And Suspected Heart Murmur?

My new doctor is going to be prescribing beta blockers. Currently I am on HCTZ and Cardizem for hypertension, but this new cardiologist is going to take me off of these 2 medications and is going to prescribe beta blockers. Is that going to be better for treating my hypertesion and suspected heart murmur.

Hi
I read your query and understood your concern.
Yes betablockers are a better alternative than diltiazem (Cardziem) for treating hypertension.
The first line of treating hypertension is betablockers and diuretics. So i would probably suggest to take also HCTZ together with betablocker.
If this isn't sufficient to control the blood pressure than i should suggest to add ACE-i or ARB.
I hope I answered to your query.
