Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Being allergic to morphine is not a contraindication for HIDA scan. A hepatobiliary (HIDA) scan is an imaging procedure used to diagnose problems in the liver, gallbladder and bile ducts. This scan is done by injecting a small amount of radioactive isotope material in to the veins. Allergic reaction to medications containing radioactive tracers used for the scan needs to be tested for by giving a test dose. If you are able to tolerate the test dose then you can safely take the HIDA scan without any concerns.
