Is Any Medication Responsible For Metallic Taste In Mouth?

I have a resident complaining of metal taste in her mouth. when i searched side effects of each medication she is none in which list that for a side effect. Question is: Is there medications that can cause this or maybe a mixture of medication giving together?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain metallic taste in mouth is a very common side effect of a large number of medications and there is a large number of medications that can cause metallic taste in mouth like antibiotics..
The other reason that can cause altered taste in mouth seems to be dry mouth that is again a side effect of a number of mediations and in absence of proper salivation the taste can get disturbed..
Drug interaction caused by a number of drugs can also cause altered taste..
I would suggest that your friend should consult an Oral Physician and get evvaluated to rule out the possible cause of metallic taste as oral and dental infection and post nasal drip, sinusitis etc can cause bad taste in mouth..
As of now she can gargle with flavoured mouthwash, chew flavoured sugarfree chewing gum and drink plenty of water for relief..
Maintain a good oral hygiene..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
