Is Antibiotics Required Along With Medicine For Chest Congestion?

I have bad chest congestion that isn t breaking up even though I am taking guaifenesin every 4 hours and took a three day course of 500 mg Zithromax starting on Friday. I started to feel better but after stopping the antibiotic after the 3rd day I am feeling a lot worse again. Should I have taken all 6 tablets? I read that the dose is one or the other. Can I take the last 3 now or should I see a doctor to get a different antibiotic at this point.cm

Zithromax has a long half life (3 day dosage is the recommended regime); so it is not needed to take 3 more tablets now. I suggest you make an appointment to get a different antibiotic at this point. If it is severe, it will be really helpful to get IV antibiotics for a few days. It makes a big difference. Hope this helps !
