Is An Underweight Baby During A Pregnancy A Matter Of Concern?
Went for last check up at 36 weeks and doctor said the baby was a litltle underweight (2150grams). Then he had us do x-rays to check the placenta and has been sending us for 2 CTG s a day for the last couple of days. What kind of concerns should I have ?
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Your fetus is having intrauterine growth restriction, which can be due to decreased vascular supply to the fetus, maternal diabetes, hypertension or autoimmune disease. In such pregnancy, Biophysical profile by ultrasound should be done every3 days and CTG should be done twice a day. If anything is deranged, then the delivery should be done immediately.
