Is An Extra Bone Growth On The Skull Suggestive Of Cancer?
I have an extra bone growth in my skull. It s on top of my left ear. It makes my whole head look uneven and I m really insecure about it. What can I do about it? And could it be cancerous? Doctoc said it was benign and asled me to come back for further examination but I never did.
Treatment (surgical excision) is only necessary if it causes pain or functional or cosmetic impairment. Large osteoma should be evaluated to rule out other diagnoses. So, you need to have regular follow up with your doctor.

Is An Extra Bone Growth On The Skull Suggestive Of Cancer?
Hi & Welcome. Based on the history and the skull x-ray report you seem to have a tumor called skull vault osteoma. An osteoma is a new piece of bone usually growing on another piece of bone, typically the skull which is also referred to as homoplastic osteoma . It is a benign tumor. Treatment (surgical excision) is only necessary if it causes pain or functional or cosmetic impairment. Large osteoma should be evaluated to rule out other diagnoses. So, you need to have regular follow up with your doctor. Hope this answers your query.
