Is An OTC Deworming Medication,safe?

Hi doctor. I m feel my anus getting really itchy especially at night. I asked my father and he is a doctor and he said that it my be a pin worm. I went to the pharmacist and bought a medication that kills these worms. Should I consult with a physician as well or stick to the medication only? Thank you

Hi,

I really appreciate your concern, the most important is perfect diagnosis if this is correct then symptom will go away and if it is not the worm infestation then symptom will be there and you need to see the physician for differential diagnosis, it may be allergic condition, fungal infection, second option condition can be managed with Miconazole cream.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain Shaikh
