Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I twisted my knee 3 weeks ago in which it felt like my knee almost became dislocated - I could feel bone rubbing against knee socket. It was extremely painful. Although it has gotten much better, there is still some swelling. I don t have a lot of pain, but it feels much weaker and close to happening again. Should I get an MRI or give it another few weeks? (Trying to avoid an MRI due to costs.) Thanks!
Hi MRI is the best technique for detecting internal derangements in knee joint with high accuracy mostly useful in traumatic injuries with inability to extend the knee or continued knee pain with suspected surgical pathologies. In your case, physical examination by a Doctor and a simple X-ray will do.I advise you see a Doctor. In the mean time, pain/antiinflammatory medications will help relief you. Best regards
