Is A Slight Bulge In The Neck A Cause Of Concern For A Light Thyroid Condition Person?

Have been diagnosed with GERD for the last 3-4 yrs. Am taking prescription medication and sometimes over the counter drugs too. Been reading up on thyroid conditions had an ultrasound of the neck done in 2001 an a few clear fluid nodules were found, nothing done. Have noticed that GERD and thyroid have a lot of the same symptoms in common. Had another ultrasound beginning of March tests came back that a nodule had increased in size and now a CT scan of the neck will be booked with a full blood work to be done tomorrow . A few days ago I noticed a slight bulge on the side of my neck where the nodule is located. My Dr. Doesn t seem concerned but it concerns me because my Mom had part of her thyroid removed many years ago and I have heard that it can be hereditary! Which way do I turn!! Should I be concerned?

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
As you told that you have GERD for last 4 years and now, you have swelling in neck. I just want to know about the report of USG neck which you had done in March. Dear, No need to worry about this.. 1st of all, have you done any thyroid profile test? 2nd point, Do have any weight gain or weight loss.. Send me your CT scan report.. Swelling in the neck does not mean that it is thyroid only.. There are so many other issue also like lymph nodes.. do you have any pain in swelling or any discharge from the swelling? If your neck swelling is increasing in size then better to do FNAC test of that particular swelling also..
N no need to worry about this.. There are few simple test that you have to do.. If all are normal then nothing will do...I glad that you are concern for your health.. Please send your CT scan and USG report with your thyroid profile...
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
