General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Popping of anything in the umbilical or para-umbilical area which can be reduced and now has become tender to pressure is indicative of a hernia. Since it has been there for a few years, it is better to get this examined by a General Surgeon and also assisted by high resolution ultrasonography.
Once confirmed I would advise you to get this operated as it has become tender.
Also see that you do not have any constipation, chronic coughing or any such activities that puts up a pressure on the abdomen increasing the hernia further.
I find this answer helpful
