Is A Black Eye Caused Post Trauma Due To Hematoma?

I am 65 years old, and fell off my bicycle a few days ago. Broke my glasses, hit my left cheek bone and obav have a black eye. I assumed it was swollen from impact, but am now wondering if I may have a heatoma under my left eye. I have been taking ibuprofen and icing, and elevating. at what point, if ever, do I get worried about it not dissipating. It doesn t seem bigger....but it is not going down in size - swelling

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Black eye after face injury is mostly due to fracture of skull bone.
Since your black eye is not reducing, we should should definitely rule out fracture in your case.
So immediately consult doctor and get done clinical examination and CT scan of skull.
If there is fracture then you will need wiring today fix the fracture.
But if there is no fracture then no need to worry much. Continue same things (painkiller, ice packs, elevation). You will mostly improve in 1-2 weeks.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
