Is Zoloft The Right Medicine For Anxiety?

Is Zoloft a good medicine? The side affects make is sound dangerous. I m having issues but doctor has not exactly determined if it s medical or just anxiety. I am going to have a MRI and a heart monitor, but she said I could start taking Zoloft just in case it s just anxiety. What would do advise me to do?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. All anti-depressant medications ensue some adverse reactions that make them sound dangerous. However, doctors advise them only if the benefits and necessity of the medication are higher than its adverse effects.

In your case, as you are already going through MRI and heart monitoring, if anything turns out in those results, you can stop Zoloft and start with related treatment of the disorder. However, if nothing turns up in the tests and you start resolving problems just by Zoloft, it is surely due to anxiety as your prescribing doctor suggested.

Hence, to conclude, you should continue with the medication for time being and should take further steps based on the test results.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
