Is Tylenol Advisable For Chronic Headache And Ear Pain?

Brody, my 8.5 year old son had a bad headache on Wed. And his left eye was extremely bloodshot, so we did two Tylenol that day.
Thursday his headache was slightly better until tonight. His eye was better this morning but is now bright red and secreting creamy/yellow discharge, and is extremely red, and is complaining of sever headache and left ear pain too. Around 8pm we gave him a 24-hour Zyrtec allergy pill, I'm wondering if I can now do a Tylenol to help with the pain, 1am.

Thanks for contacting with your health concern

1. bloodshot eyes in children usually reflects inflammation of the eye surface [either due to infection [bacterial/viral conjuctivitis], allergies [allergic conjuctivitis], irritants (any physical or chemical irritant] thus an Ophthalmologist opinion is necessary [painful/red eye] for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

PS. Get an ENT opinion for sinus tenderness over maxillary & frontal sinuses and look for any focus of infection in teeth, tonsils, and ears.

2. Although conditions associated with bloodshot eyes in children are not serious it is important to contact your doctor as soon as possible to determine the cause and initiate proper treatment.

3. As now there is the presence of discharge, seek urgent medical care, and stop giving tylenol [as it is providing symptomatic relief only since an earache and headache are symptoms], therapy will depend upon the underlying cause.
