Is Silicone The Cause For Dry Mouth And Lump Inside The Upper Lip?

Hi. I have had this round bump inside my upper lip for a few weeks now. Its not causing any pain just irritating to know its there. I wake up every morning aswell with dry mouth and i never use too. I was wondering im a window door fitter i sometimes get quite abit off silicone around my lips and sometimes its a pain to get off. Got a bad habbit of useing my teath n nails to get it off aswell as scrubbing my lips hard. Could i have an reaction to silicone possibly or just iritated something in my lips by doing what i do to get off silicone.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a painless lump inside the upper lip seems to be a mucous cyst or a mucocele and can be due to trauma to the inside of the lip leading to rupture to the duct of the minor salivary gland..
Dry mouth can be due to mouth breathing habit as you are waking up with a dry mouth..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can be diagnostic and treatment can be planned according to the cause..
As of now you can do concentrated salt water rinses for regression of the lump..
You can chew sugar free chewing gums for stimulation of saliva..
Drink plenty of water..
Sleep with mouth closed and for this you can stick a vertical strip of micropore tape over your closed lips to enforce nasal breathing..
You can also stick xylitol patches over the inner side of mucosa as it maintains a lubricated film inside mouth and prevent dryness..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
