Is Regesterone Effective In Postponing Periods?

Hi am 45 years . in feb 2016, my period started on 23rd, I wanted to postpone my period till 26th March . My Dr prescribed me to take regesterone 5 mg once a day starting from 3 days ahead of the expected date. I expected it to start by 21st and thought to take it from 18th. but last night i just saw very little blood spots and immediately I had one tablet. and today morning also I had one. Please let me know, whether at all it can be stopped now and what doze ? if not do I need to continue with medicine? will it act as a birth control mechanism as well?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, it is most advisable not to take any hormone medicine until and unless it is highly indicative else it may cause anything with uncertain event, as long as postporment of menses and contraception is concern and medicien used for this, better to stop it, it is all, hope this information helps.
