Is Proctozone Used For Hemorrhoids?

I made a call to my Drug Store to ask if my Dr would renew some cream for hemorrhoids that he has prescribed in the past for me.It was called Tronolane ~Anesthetic cream for hemorrhoids (rapid relief of pain & itching). I was given Proctozone -HC 2.5% and didn t realize the mistake. The Drug store is closed now & my question is what is Proctozone used for? And is Proctozone used for hemorrhoids? Please don t reply if this question will be on a public website. Thanks!

Hello,

I understand your concern. Proctozone HC 2.5 % rectal is used to decrease itching or inflammation caused by hemorrhoids. It seems like you were given a substitute because the pharmacy most probably didn't have any supply of Tronolane. Proctozone should work just as well. If you are not happy with the effects, you could always return to the pharmacy and request the exact brand name you were using before.

Wishing you all the best
