Is Nifedipine Prescribed To Replace Lipitor?

my doctor had prescribed me (100mg)Losartan and (10 mg)Lipitor for high blood pressure and cholesterol. When I went back he then prescribed me (60mg) Nifedipine. I thought this was to replace the Lipitor is that correct? Or should I have stopped taking the Losartan?

Hello and thank you for the question!
First of all i will try to explain what are the first meds used for.
Losartan is an Antihypertensive drug belonging to the group of angiotensin II receptor antagonists. You should take this medications regurarly as your doctor prescribed it to you!!!
Lipor is a Lowering Lipidic drug belonging to the group of Statins.
The doctor prescribed you Nifedipin which is also an Antihypertnsive drug, but a different grup this time, known as calcium channel blocker. May be that the levels of you Blood pressure were still above the normal levels even if you used Losartan, thats why your doctor prescribed you another drug to add to your Antihypertensive therapy, but this means that YOU SHOULD NOT stop taking Losartan. You should use both of them along with Lipitor, and also you should monitor more often your blood pressure levels, and see the reuslts of this therapy.
Best Regards!
