Is Mupirocin (Bactroban) Correct Treatment For Perioral Dermatitis Around The Eyes?
Is Mupirocin (Bactroban) an appropriate treatment for a 15 month old baby "diagnosed" with perioral dermatitis around the eyes? I use the term "diagnose" loosely, because her pediatrician is unsure. She has had this for two months and the mupirocin seems to help a little, but it never completely goes away. Would an oral antibiotic be better??? Please help!

Perioral means around mouth.Is it around eyes or mouth.Dermatitis lasting for more than 2 months is most of the times due to atopic dermatitis. Its treatment is low potency steroid and good moisturizer. Mupirocin can not be applied for 2 months at a stretch.
