Is Motrin The Right Medicine For High Fever And Body Pain?

Hi my 17 year old was achy today when he got up and as the day went on he developed a fever of 104.3F . I gave him Motrin about a half hour ago and his fever is down to 103.2. I also gave him a cool compress for his head. My question is; will the Motrin continue to bring the fever down, what else can I do to help him feel better -and are their any symptoms I should keep an eye out for that indicate he should see a Dr immediately ?

fever itself is not a disease. It is a manifestation that there is something wrong with the body. It may be infection or some other physical illness.

Yes, Motrin is good medicine. Give it every 6 hourly and keep checking the temperature. Make a chart of fever readings with time to keep as a reference if needed to go see a doctor.

You should keep an eye if:
he has any type of pain in belly, vomiting, diarrhea or nausea.
he has burning urination or any other symptom as if he has a urinary problem.
has pain anywhere in the body like back flanks, ears, throat, arms and legs, teeth or gums etc.
If there is any obvious sign of infection like a pus filled lesion anywhere on skin or scalp.
