Thank you for asking on HCM!

Short answer: Yes, Motrin is the right tablet.

Detailed answer: I really understand your concern, so I'm suggesting some advices that may be helpful for you.

Heat and massage may increase joint movement and decrease pain. Physical or occupational therapy may be needed. Heat or ice packs may be used for localized relief.

Range-of-motion exercises increase the movement of the joint. Careful exercise may also strengthen the muscles around the joint.

Yoga and acupuncture have been shown to help relieve pain and stiffness.

Joint protection:
1. Don’t overuse a joint.
2. If you work with your hands and have OA of the fingers, you should take frequent rest periods. This applies to all the other joints as well.

Diet: Low-fat, low-cholesterol diet may be suggested. Losing weight may help if you have OA of the knees, hips, or spine.

Medications: Your health care provider may recommend to takes acetaminophen or an anti-inflammatory drug such Motrin as doctor prescribed you. This should help relieve the pain and stiffness. Special creams also sometimes help joint pain. In cases of severe OA, your health care provider may recommend an injection to the joint or surgery. Lubrication injections such Hyalgan or Synvisc are also used.
