Is Methylprednisolone The Reason For Knee Pain?

Hi. I am a 57 year old female and am taking Methylprednisolone (4mg dosepak for 6 days). Midway through day three, I started to notice knee pain. I have read online that taking this medication can lead to serious bone loss (osteonecrosis) if taken in high enough doses for a long time. Can you please tell me whether a 4mg dosepak for 6 days can cause this particular complication & if you think that the methylprednisolone is causing my knee pain? I am very upset & concerned that I have done permanent damage to my knees. Thanking you in advance for your response. Karin

Hello
You are taking methylprednisolone 4 mg for 6 days .
After 3rd day , you had pain in the knee .
I want to tell you that according to your history of illness mentioned in the query , this dose of 4 mg is NOT responsible for your knee pain.
You are correct that methylprednisolone causes osteoporosis ,but if you use it for very long time i.e. at least for higher doses ( >60 mg ? day ) for >6 months .
In your case such 4 mg don't produces knee pain . The possibilities of such pain in knee may be :
1 Osteoarthritis
2 Rheumatoid arthritis
3 ligament injury ( rupture ) .
4 Menisci of knee injury ( due to twist ).
So consult an ORTHOPEDIC doctor and get his opinion.
