General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear welcome to HealthcareMagic
Regarding your experience with panic attacks and the replacement of hydrochlorothiazide with metoprolol I am suggesting that it is not used for treatment of panic disorder rather it is used for ventricular contraction of the heart to enable the heart pump blood to the body system

In case of panic disorder I oblige you should take an anxiolytic medication and see a psychologist specialist for expert clinical assessment and adequate Councelling

I hope this helps
