Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Paracetamol is the safest drug to reduce the raised body temperature in young children. However, if the fever does not subside even after taking Paracetamol then
Meftal-P can be given.
Meftal-P contains
Mefenamic acid which can be given at 4 to 6.5 mg/kg per dose (maximum 25 mg/kg/day). It should be given at an interval of 6 to 8 hours .
The most common side effects of Meftal-P are
gastritis, abdominal discomfort, bleeding. Hence, it should not be given on empty stomach and the duration of treatment should not be long.
Along with the medication, tepid sponging should be done to lower the raised body temperature. He should be encouraged to take plenty of oral fluids & fruit juices.
In case of such high temperature, I would suggest you to get him evaluated by
pediatrician to look into the cause of fever and to treat the underlying cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
