Is Levofloxacin An Effective Medication For Urinary Tract Infection?

doctor put me on Levoflox tab 500mg yesterday for kidney bladder infection. I am almost 70 years of age. should I be taken this medicine? This is 3rd time I have had this type of infection since Jan 15th. I ask my doctor to send me to a kidney doctor but she said she can take care of this. I am concern because many years ago I would have kidney stones.

Hi, I think you should get your urine checked for routine and microscopy and a culture. Also if you had a history of kidney stones, go for a ultrasound to see if there is any recurrence. You can take levofloxacin but better to take the antibiotics according to your culture report. Drink around 4 litres of water per day and take some urine alkaliser. Discuss with your doctor regarding this.
