Is Glimepiride A Good Choice Along With The Lantus For Diabetes II?

I am a type ii diabetic, currently taking Victoza and Lantus insulin and having a fairly good A1c of 6.9. I want to stop taking Victoza because of the cost and also the need for 2 daily injections. Is glimeperide a good choice along with the Lantus? I see a diabetes nurse practioner, along with my primary care physician. In the past, I have used Avandia, Byetta, metformin, Welchol, Actos and perhaps others that I am forgetting. I have experienced some nausea with several drugs, including the Victoza.

Welcome To HCM
This is Dr Amit. Let me guide you in this case.
You can very well switch over to glimeperide with metformin from Victoza considering the effect and cost of glimeperide and metformin in the mind. Trial also conducted by the American Diabetic Association for the effectiveness of glimeperide and metformin over victoza.
THE PROBLEM OF NAUSEA IS ALSO LESSER WITH GLIMEPERIDE AS COMPARE TO VICTOZA.
And as per me 6.9% of HBA1c is not considerd as good so i will advise you to do regular exercise, diet modifiction along with medication
Feel free to ask if you have any other query
Regards
