Is Fish Oil Safe To Be Taken While On Doxycycline Hyclate?

Doxycycline Hyalite should not be taken with blood thinners. I am prescribed 200mg daily, and I take 2 g refined fish oil daily. The fish oil is a blood thinner.. as well as a laxative, and this antibiotic is very constipating!! CanI continue the fish oil while on it?

Hello
Thank You for the query at HealthcareMagic

Taking lower doses(less than 3 grams) of fish oil along with doxycycline for less than 1 month is safe.
However the two medications are not recommended to be taken together for longer duration or higher doses, as risk of bleeding is high.

Hope I was able to answer your question
Please address any more concerns
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
