Is Erythromycin Advisable Instead Of Polymyxin-B Sulfate For Conjunctivitis?
I was prescribed erythromycin today for what appears to be pink eye. A friend just had the same thing this past week and was prescribed polymyxin b sulfate and trimethoprim ophthalmic solution. Are both of these basically the same medication and can I use it instead of getting my prescription filled. I do not have insurance and trying to avoid spending any extra money

These medications are all antibiotics but are not in a similar family of drugs.
Though they are not in the same family of medications, the topical medications that your friend used would likely help your infection though it would be best to speak and consult with your doctor about the change.
If he or she agrees then you should clean the top area to prevent any transmission of infection from your friend to yourself.
