Is Epsom Salt In Hot Water Advisable For Sore And Swollen Foot?

My right foot is extremely sore, swollen, etc from an episode with gout. I have a tube of voltaren gel and wondered if I could use this on my foot. and would an Epson salt and or baking soda soak in warm/hot water be helpful. I am taking allipuronol(?) orally but have just started this on this past Saturday and so far has not been helpful. (I think this med is also creating diarrhea(?) Thanks for any advice you may have to offer. Laura Thomas

gout generally effect big toe of foot. should take antioxidant like ginger carrot and banana. oxalic acid level should be monitored. colchicine is drug of choice. NSAID can be taken.
