my brother is incarcerated at the AZ dept of cporrectioons that has Corizon as their health provider. they are refusing to give him Gabapentin, which he has used sine the mid 90's to control the massive nerve damage in his leg with no side effects. Now they are trying to give him Effexor (Venlafaxine) and mhe's concerned abojut the effects and reactions to other medications he is taking. will this medication do for him what the Gabapentin has always ddone?

The doctors treating him may think Effexor maybe a better choice for your brother because it has other additional properties that my help including anti-depression and pain control. I think and use Effexor frequently as a substitute for gabapentin for neuropathy and get great results. I do not believe you need to worry about the change in his medication
