Hi I m 9 weeks and 2 days pregnant when i got my first check up.. the doctor saw bleeding inside..and she recommend Duvadilan Isoxsuprine 10g 3x a day. Is this safe for my pregnancy? is there going to be a side effect to the baby? at the first day i take it, my ear is painful and there s a painful line thru my head. and there was a time i take it, it seems like there s a little pain inside my heart. Should i continue taking it?
Hello user, Welcome to HCM, Congrats on your pregnancy.
Duvadilan, is absolutely safe during pregnancy. It contains Isoxsuprine, which is a vasodialtor. So it helps to increase the blood flow to your baby. It has many uses: 1. Given to pregnant women to increase blood circulation 2. In premature labour, to help relax the uterus.
The oral dosage for the drug is 10-20 mg three or four times a day.
However , since it is a vasodilator, hence it my decrease the blood pressure to some extent and hence the headache or the pain in the heart that you are experiencing.
Do consult your Gynaecologist if the symptoms persist. However , the drug has far more benefits than side effects, and hence prescribed.
Hope this helps, Follow up questions are welcome. Regards, Dr.Pallavi jain MBBS,MD Biochemistry
