Is Dicloxacillin An Effective Medication For Staph Infection?

I am being treated for a staph infection in my ankle after surgery to fix the ankle. I was on a IV med for eight weeks and then put on oral dicloxacillin fortime time a day 500MG. The question I have does this med cure the infection or just mask it. I have had regular blood tests which show normal markings.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,
Thank you for asking HOCM
Dicloxacillin is used to treat mild-to-moderate staphylococcal infections
like infections and cellulitis – including impetigo, otitis externa, folliculitis, boils, carbuncles, and mastitis
It acts by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It inhibits cross-linkage between the linear peptidoglycan polymer chains that make up a major component of the cell wall of Gram-positive bacteria.
Side effect:Renal damage but lower hepatic side effect.

So do not worry it will cure the infection.

Take care
stay healthy.
