Is Cymbalta Responsible For Premature Ventricular Contractions?

I m on Cymbalta, so mg, my doctor put me on it about three months ago, because I had a lot of weight gain with Zoloft. Switching to Cymbalta has helped with the weight gain, but since I ve been on it, I ve had heart palpitations return. I have a history of PVCs and PACs, but they went away after I was put on night-time oxygen concentration over a year ago. I m wondering whether the Cymbalta could be responsible for the PVCs. It s hard to know since I was put on a PPI about the same time. I have good blood work and I had a clean echocardiogram and a clean nuclear stress test three months ago. I have panic disorder, and the palpitations are a not frequent tend to occur more frequently when I exercise, but there is not exceptional pain, nor loss of exercise capacity. They ve also been more frequent in the past week during the run-up to my giving a speech to over a thousand people. These are scary. I know, given my history of PVCs and anxiety and a clean cardiac report, this is probably anxiety, but the Cymbalta is a new factor in the mix, gratefully looking forward to any insight you might have.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Greetings !

Well cymbalta (duloxetine) does not usually lead to PVC but it does cause palpitations in some of it's users and this might have been the case in your situation as well.

Kindly see the link below for more information on this ( see cardiac side effects) :-

So you may ask your doctor to either lower your dose of cymbalta or to replace with another anti depressant like mirtazapine or venlafaxine.

I hope this helps.

Regards
