Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What is the best treatment for eczema I never had it before but the last few months right now I am on a cortisone cream two weeks on one week off it looked almost gone last week and I have been off the cream for a week am starting it tonight again it is dark red does not itch
Hi Thanks for posting your query on HCM I have read and understood your concern Cortisone cream is very effective in the treatment of eczema.I will only advise you use as directed by your Doctor as overuse of cortisone cream or other corticosteroid creams may cause skin irritation or discoloration, thinning of the skin, infections, and stretch marks. If symptoms become recurrent or resistant, other options may be tried like: -Creams that help repair the skin like calcineurin inhibitors — such as tacrolimus -Drugs to fight infection if infected -Oral anti-itch drugs if its starts to itche severely -Oral or injected drugs that control inflammation like steroids -Wet dressings -Light therapy Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns. Best regards
