Is Clexane Injection Advisable For A Woman With Thrombophilia While Travelling?

Hi there My mom passes away from a blood clot. When my gynae asked family history she sent me for blood tests. Tests came back that I have thrombophill (Factor V Leiden ). I am going on a 12 hour flight to Thailand and was told to take Clexane injections and wear compression stocking on flight. I have never had any signs of clots or issues, other than just being sent for blood tests to see if I inherited my mom s condition. What I am wanting to find out is if it s really that necessary for me to take these injections for the flight? If it is recommended to tale some form of medication, is there not a tablet version rather? Thanks you Tracey

Thrombophilia has very dangerous sequele especially during prolong immobility like flight. It leads to deep vein thrombosis, thrombosis in pulmonary vessels, heart attack and stroke.
In order to prevent these sequele you have to take prophylactic dose of clexane and wear compression stockings.
Yes there are tablet versions. Rivaroxaban in the name of Xarelto 15 mg per day.
