Hi,
It is good that you started feeling better now. The symptoms you described are all of UTI only and treatment given to you in the emergency room also seems okay. The
urinary tract infection you just had was the same experience as that was of before 4 years. 4 years is a long time to have infection again. I do not think you are suffering from any specific condition.
Pneumonia and urinary tract infections are very common opportunistic infections that can happen to anyone at any time. If you experience more frequent and more severe episodes in very less interval of time, then you surely need to find a more concrete reason behind it.
However, there are some things that you can do to prevent UTIs:
- Empty your bladder frequently and completely. Do not rush to finish urinating. Take you time.
- Drink plenty of water and fluids. You should drink at least 1.8 L of fluids daily to stay healthy. Water is the best way to detoxify and eliminate toxins from body through urine.
- You can choose shower over baths to clean the pelvic area better.
- Make sure that you clean pelvis from front to back and not the other way around.
- Cleanse your genitals before and after sex.
- Wear cotton underpants to keep the area dry and let it breathe.
I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. Take care.
Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
