Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just started on Celexa 10 mg about 7 days ago. The first few days I took it I think I had an allergy to the compound. (citralopram; generic) The reason being is triggered my allergic rhinitis, but then I just took flonase. I have noticed that my allergies are worse and my skin is even burning a lot. Tonight I have a horrendous sinus headache. Is it safe to take a tylenol with Celexa? I am reading that it isn t safe to take advil or aspirin. I presume tylenol works differently. Please advise. Thank you.
You are correct in presuming that they work differently. At the moment there are no known interactions between Celexa and Tylenol, this means that they can be used safely together. Celexa cannot be used with Naproxen, ibuprofen or Voltaren because they interact to increase the toxicity of each other, that is Naproxen increases the side effects of Celexa and visa versa.
Codeine can be used if the Tylenol is not effective.Since you are having sinus problems, part of the headache may be congestion of the sinuses. This means that adding an antihistamine/ decongestant combination may be helpful, that is Benadryl D.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
