General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Betamethasone is a corticosteroid. It is used for hair fall associated with scalp psoriasis or seborrhoeic dermatitis. Other conditions it is not used. It should be used only under supervision of your doctor as steroids can do harm also. As you have thinning of hair problems like anemia and hypothyroidism should be ruled out by running blood tests. How is the pattern of hair loss. ? If it is more on Crown and frontal area then it can be due to androgenetic alopecia and in such case minoxidil solution will be helpful. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
