Is Azithromycin Safe To Be Taken While Treating Gall Stones?
can i take azithromycin if i have gallstones. i have a sinus/ear infection and the dr prescribed this but i am waiting to have gallstone surgery at Moffitt in Tampa in January. Will it make me have a gallbladder attack? I cannot miss work tomorrow, Thanks…
Hi, Azithromycin is metabolised in your liver and it is contraindicated in people with colestatic jaundice. This stasis can be caused by gallstones as well, so if you have jaundice symptoms related to your gallstone, you shouldn't take azithromycin. Talk eith your doctor and tell him to prescribe another antibiotic based on your antibiogramme, or past medical history. If you dont have any signs of jaundice, then take azithromycin. If you start having any sign of jaundice, interrupt the antibiotic and call your doctor. I hope I have answered your questio. Wish you good health!
