Is Aspirin Given For Hypertension While Suffering From Stroke?
hello doctor, my father is 50 yrs old, hypertension pateint taking nephdapine 20 mg tiwce daily , he got mild ischamic stroke since 01/11/2010 and only recived 300mg aspirin for 3 days and then 150 mg till today after a mild stroke does it occur for the second time and how to prevent it happening again?
The cause of ischemic stroke is blockage of a vessel resulting from a thrombus or embolus. the role of aspirin is to prevent platelates from aggregating and forming eventually a thrombus or embolus.
Your father has once had a stroke, that puts him at high risk of getting another stroke. So, he must be put on aspirin continuously as a preventive measure.
Taking the aspirin is a good thing, nothing to worry about. Best regards Dr Achuo
