Hi, I have read your question. Your concern about the recent changes in your dad's condition is understandable.

Aricept is mainly used in Alzheimer disease, however, it can also be used in Parkinson's disease patients with impaired cognition and its efficacy has been proven by many recent studies.
There are many side effects of this drug, however, the changes in your dad's mood and emotions can not be directly associated with Aricept

Therefore, I would recommend that your dad should continue taking Aricept as advised. Hope this helps and please do not hesitate to ask for any further clarification.
