Is Ankylosing Spondylitis And Crohn's Disease Herditary?

I have a son with AS and a daughter with Crohn's. My grandaughter has eczema and often complains of a tummy ache. I am concerned that she may have a serious problem in the future. Both grandaughters received a lot of antibiotics through their first two years for colds and sniffles. I have done some research and with the family history, this could also add to the problem.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Ankylosing spondylitis and Crohn's disease are not hereditary disease but they are genetic diseases.
Hereditary diseases are those which are transmitted from parents to children.
Genetic diseases may or may not be transmitted but they are related to the genetic make up.
Eczema is a skin disease and it is not hereditary or genetic.
The course of all these diseases is chronic i.e. they have a long course or waxing and waning course.
The condition has to be managed by drugs.
Variation of dose has to tailored according to the activity of the disease.

Thanks and take care
