Is Allopurinol Advisable To Reduce The Uric Acid Level?

hi I am 63 yrs early female this month I was dx for gout and my primary physician prescribed me 300mg allopurinol 300mg daily to lower my uric acid -[lab work - shows 9.0 normal -2.4 to 6.5] I am skeptical taken it due side effect /reaction/contraindication. what would I do may be I will be on diet and watch out am eating?? I have gone through your query. Your uric acid level is high. If it remains like that it can damage kidney as well as heart. So better to take uricosuric drugs like allopurinol or febuxostat.
