Is 17mm Of Femur Length Increase Risks Of Downs Syndrome?

Hi, today at my ultrasound they measured the femur length and it was 17 mm, which puts me in the 16 percentile, everything else was normal and my double screen was 1:2800 for downs syndrome and the NT at 12 weeks was 1.5 mm. I am now 15 weeks and 5 days and I was wondering if there is any increased risk of downs syndrome because of the femur length, thank you very much.

Hi,
More than the femur length alone, it is the expected femur length which is calculated as follows:-9.645+0.9338*BPD. If the ratio is more than 0.84, Down's Syndrome is more likely. The nuchal translucency is within normal limits. Now-a-days, visualization of the fetal nasal bone is considered to be a very good sonographic feature to exclude Down's Syndrome. Please correlate the findings and ask your doctor to assess. I do not think there should be any risk. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
